These are YOUR photos


This past week, I had a truly magical newborn shoot. A beautiful, brand-new little human who was peacefully sleepy the entire time, two older siblings who could not love that baby more, and a couple who radiated love for their children and each other. Oh, and the sweetest pup as well. Truly, a dream.


I also had the honor of photographing their other children’s newborn photos, so there was already a built-in sense of connection and comfort before I even walked in the door, which is always so lovely.


As I took these photos—especially in March, when I don’t have fresh images to post as frequently as I do in the busier months—I found myself excited to share this magic with you all. As much as I sometimes despise social media, I really do love being able to share what I create with my clients and what’s on my heart. It truly makes me feel more connected.


But, as I always do, I asked for permission to share these images, and the parents said no.


This is becoming more and more common, and I completely understand and support it. My kids are older, but if I were raising them now, there’s a good chance I would make the same choice. So while I felt a little disappointed, I was also fully supportive.


I will always respect your wishes when it comes to sharing your photos online. Of course, I would love to share them, because they are beautiful, and I love what we created together, but these are your photos. That’s why we take them. For your walls, your albums, your way of freezing time, and for your children to look back on in the years to come and remember how deeply they were loved.

Not for anyone else.


So, today I’m sharing a few sweet toes, the tops of little heads, and one very sweet pup, from one of my favorite newborn sessions I’ve ever had. And faces, or no faces, the love and connection shines through which is always my goal in creating YOUR images.
